What is the object of your expedition? It can hardly be anything else than what I have suggested. However, all such questions can be settled by amicable arrangements, and it is unnecessary for you to take the trouble of sending your soldiers to a distance during the present hot summer.

On repeated occasions, I have sent a deputy to express my opinions to you, and now at the present crisis, I must beg for your final advice. I hope you will not grudge giving me a frank and clear explanation of your great projects for the salvation of our country. I shall not only be glad of information as to your plans for the suppression of high-handed militarism, but I should

also like to know how you will enforce the 3 excellent People's Principles. As to the probable calamity that may arise in consequence of great unequality between the rich and the poor, I may also include among the

subjects for submission to the Grand People's Conference,

any good schemes you may have, for control of the rich

and at improvement of the poor, provided that we shall

take warning from the faults of others, which may reduce

us to destruction.

However, there are two things, with which I can-

not rashly sympathize: First, your Party, though existing

under the name of Kuomin (Nationalist), is in reality

entirely in the hands of agitators, who have not only

terrified the whole world, but also all Kuomintang members. They have even caused you much anxiety, and therefore you attempted some time ago to impose a control over them.

But for fear that some others might be affected, you only

removed the junior agitators, and left the leaders alone.

These leaders, as long as they remain, will only do vital

harm to you, and if I maintain friendship with you,

I
